This bridge is going on a OmeDeluxe Jubilee, and right from Ome it sounded great. It's not compensated at all however I'm surprised how much it changed in sound of my Deering Goodtime banjo. In the years after I got the Sullivan I have done lots of things to get the best tone such as different strings, heads, straps, picks, Zero-fret, tone enhancers, pickups, D-tuners. HOLY CRAP. Man I can tell you this has brightened up the sound on my R20. It took the bassy sound down a couple of notches and brought up the high notes. I bought this for a Whyte Laydie banjo (old pot with Reiter neck). That should tell you a lot about it - tinny, kind of harsh, very bright. Sacrifice bass for treble, or vice versa. These are made really nice, and you are missing out on what might give you that sound until you try one or more. I went back and forth a few times and the Stelling bridge had a hollow and not very punchy sound compared to the Purcell. The old bridge, I believe was the original, but am not sure.
